Arvind Kejriwal’s Biopic Has Been Passed By FCAT

Current Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal became an overnight star when his Aam Aadmi Party won the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections with a majority, obtaining 67 out of 70 assembly seats. He entered politics and left his Income Tax Commissioner post to eradicate corruption. Now, a film, ‘An Insignificant Man’, will be made on his journey.

Recently, the flick will be granted U/A certificate by the censor board as the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) passed the film. The news was confirmed by Vinay Shukla, who has co-directed the movie with Khushboo Ranka. As per a statement, issued on behalf of the film’s makers, “The FCAT order is out and it is overwhelmingly in our favour. This is very rare for a political film like ours”.

The statement further read, “The Tribunal has held that the requirement of seeking an NOC from political personages and others as a pre-condition for certification of the documentary is wholly unsustainable and not permissible by law. The Tribunal has clearly emphasized that we don’t need to mute the names of Congress or BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) from the film”.

The Central Board of Film Certification’s head Pahlaj Nihalani earlier asked the makers to get a no-objection certificate (NOC) from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit and Kejriwal himself. Then the makers approached FCAT and it gave them the required green signal.
