Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s next film Babumoshai Bandookbaaz has been in the news for long. First it was because Chitrangada Singh left the film after her altercation with director Kushan Nandy, and then it was for its tiff with the Censor Board.
Pahlaj Nihalani-led Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) has suggested 48 cuts in the film.
However, the first trailer of the film started creating a positive buzz around the film. People then got hooked to the song Barfani that featured the sultry Bidita Bag. And now the makers have come up with a new song: Ghunta.
The song seems like an afterthought because its look is glossier than the trailer and other songs of the film.
It’s a rehash of RD Burman’s famous tune Haye re haye tera ghungta from the film Dhongee. The original song was voiced by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle.
The latest version has Neha Kakkar’s voice and is set in the backdrop of a wedding celebration where somebody is trying to kill the groom, but can’t take the perfect shot in the crowd.
This person is not Nawazuddin Siddiqui and that makes us wonder about this second assassin angle.
Babumoshai Bandookbaaz will hit the screens on August 25, 2017.
