It seems like B-town celebrities are not happy with CBFC Chief Pahlaj Nihalani because of the number of cuts he has demanded in numerous films. A few days ago he denied a film certificate to the recently released ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ directed by Alankrita Shrivastava. However, after much struggles, the film managed to get an A-certificate.

Recently, he asked Imitiaz Ali to remove the word ‘intercourse’ from his upcoming film ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’. And now there is one more movie which has come under his scanner. The film is none other than Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’ in which Pahlaj has demanded 48 cuts.

48 cuts did not go down well with the film’s team and they decided to hold a press conference in Mumbai along with other filmmakers. During the press conference, Nawazuddin was asked about his opinion on the cuts being demanded. He said, “The situation is such that I have to count my words. There is no creative freedom. These words and language are important. The local flavour is important for the character and story growth. As an actor, I think if the film has a local flavour, it becomes global. My character is not polished, how can I not use abusive language?”

Bidita Bag, who also stars in the film, called CBFC’s attitude like grandparents limiting their freedom. Kiran Shyam, the producer of the movie, said Nihalani threatened her that he would not allow the flick to release if the makers do not abide by the decision of CBFC and appeal to FCAT.

Joining the team of ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’, were filmmakers Alankrita Srivastava, Abhishek Chaubey, Anubhav Sinha and Madhu Mantena who also shared their concerns after their previous films faced CBFC’s brunt.
