Bhansali planning a film on Olympic winner Mary Kom

To pay a tribute to the Olympic medal winner MC Mary Kom, noted filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has decided to make a film on the world champion boxer. The film will reportedly be directed by Omung Kumar, art director of Bhansali's previous projects Black and Saawariya. Bhansali confirmed the news saying, Omung approached him with a detailed script based on Mary Koms life and he liked the script. "Omung brought the script to me a month before the Olympics. Mary Kom has made India proud. I was moved by her story. She is a mother of two, has been through so much struggle, has tremendous spirit and a sense of living and dignity and is now a World Champion. She has what it takes to make a great champion. An Indian woman boxer is rare. It will be an exciting film to produce and I am very happy to do it," Bhansali said. The noted filmmaker will meet Mary Kom on August 23 in Mumbai. The film will go on floors at year-end or early next year and casting is yet to be decided.
