Box Office: Is Azhar On Its Way back To Pavilion?

The long and consolidating innings that Emraan Hashmi’s Azhar was expected to play in the middle seems to have gotten over sooner than expected. No method in the books of box office analogy can claim Azhar’s first week box office performance as match winning one. Touted as one of the most anticipated biopic dramas of the year, Azhar hasn’t been able to revive itself ever since it experienced its first major fall on the first weekday.

Box Office: Is Azhar On Its Way back To Pavilion?

Having opened to a moderate opening weekend of 21 crores, while it had to stay firm on weekdays to maintain good hold, it started dipping down as soon as it entered the weekdays. After 7 days of its box office run, the film has barely been able to touch the 30 crore mark. With consistent box office competition creeping in the next few weeks, it is very unlikely the film will do a lifetime biz of more than 35 crores. If this happens, the film by no means could be considered a box office success. The film is right now placed with a total figures of 29.70 crores.

The consistent drop in ‘Azhar’s’ collections are indicative of the fact that the word of mouth hasn’t been on the positive side for this Tony D’Souza directorial. Out of all the box office debacles Emraan has been a part of in the last few years, Azhar would be the toughest sip to gulp down his throat. Having invested so much of his efforts into this film, the least he could have expected was the film doing 50 crores (if not more) at the box office.

Let’s hope he has better projects in hand to make up for all the loss. Azhar’s box office performance after its first week hasn’t been encouraging at all!
