Box Office shows an unpredictable upshot this week while HNY inches closer to 200

That box office is a game of unpredictability is not just a saying after all. This week, the show of performance was reversal, surprising and completely unexpected. The films that took on each other this Friday were Indra Kumar’s Super Nani and Kamal Sadanah’s Roar while Happy New Year present as the main opponent.

With a prominent director, producer and cast who would have thought that Super Nani would be left too far behind and a film like Roar would attract audiences. Of course, the opening weekend wasn’t a wave like affair, but Roar Tigers of Sundarban really did manage to pull off some numbers. Starting on a slow note, Roar collected over 1 crore on its opening day but multiplied its figure over the weekend to settle at over Rs. 5 crore. Rekha’s comeback Super Nani on the other hand could just manage around 2 crores. The B and C centres in smaller cities have made a huge contribution to the adventure movie Roar that virtually has no big name in its cast. If the trend holds up, there could be some light at the end of the tunnel for the film.

Happy New Year on the other hand managed some good numbers over the weekend and added extra 3.25 crores on Monday. With this, the total collections of the film stand at around 183 crores. At this rate, the film may enter the 200 crore club by the end of its third weekend. There has been a significant fall in the collections hence the wait for this SRK starrer to enter the 200 crore club has gone long. The film will have some competition this weekend when Akshay Kumar’s ‘The Shaukeens’ releases this Friday.
