Here's Why Richa Chadda's Cabaret Isn't Releasing Anytime Soon!

Here's Why Richa Chadda's Cabaret Isn't Releasing Anytime Soon!

One of the worst possible ways to push your hard worked film into a pit of unsympathetic fate is to endlessly delay it. Every major film that kept getting pushed for its release hasn’t ever found success at the box office. Keeping the legacy on is Richa Chadda’s much talked about dance based film Cabaret.

Directed by Kaustav Narayan and produced by Pooja Bhatt and Bhushan Kumar, Cabaret was initially set to release in May. The trailers had come out, the promotion had begun, Richa had started entertaining media junkies by giving interviews and then suddenly the film got lost in the line of a limbo. From May 27th to June 10th to any week in the month of July, Cabaret has no signs of showing itself up to the audiences.

Here's Why Richa Chadda's Cabaret Isn't Releasing Anytime Soon!

So what exactly has gone wrong with this film that did show a lot of substance filled promise with its first trailer?

Some early rumours indicated that the makers needed more time to shine the film up in the post production stage so the largely crafted dance numbers do not appear any less of what they have the potential for. Here’s where the loophole in the theory exists: no film that has had its audio released, trailers out and promotions on can get stuck in the post production. The film was slated to come out in May which meant it already had most of its editing done so where did this polishing theory suddenly come from?

Anyway, even if we believe their noble intentions of making the film a top notch one, here’s what Richa had to say when media quizzed up about the release of the film:

"I have no idea about the date of the film being pushed. I think the producers can give you the right reason behind that,” now what does this indicate? It proves there’s enough turmoil within the production that the lead actress of the film has no idea of such an ambitious release. There’s no other way left to comprehend hence, either the film is struggling to find good distributors (which appears unlikely) or there are quite a few creative differences between the makers.

Cabaret is one of those movies that can only return its cost of production with fair dividends if it releases with proper promotion and a positive appeal. A few more weeks of delay and the audience will start believing it doesn’t have the content to live up to the expectations and hence the film will get lost in the crowd.

Cabaret has such high credits to itself and with the likes of Deviah and Chadda, it still can make up for the lost time. The film has already missed out on the best slot which was in the first half of the year and will now have to fight it amongst the biggies to lay a mark. While we closely observe what the fuss around its release is, let’s hope it soon makes its way to the theatres.

Why do such promising films have to get stuck in the way? Why couldn’t Mastizaade or Teraa Suroor get lost somewhere?
