Chak De India star Shilpa Shukla wished to play lead role in Mary Kom’s biopic

While shooting is going on in full swing for Mary Kom’s biopic, here comes out an interesting revelation. Bollywood actress Shilpa Shukla, who shot to fame with her bold performance in Chak De India, has revealed her long-time desire to play the character of Mary Kom in the biopic.

She has also disclosed the fact that she even expressed her desire to filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali but he was in favour of Priyanka Chopra for the role. As told by Shilpa to PTI, "A lot of my friends told me that I resemble her (Mary) and should give it a shot. I also felt deep inside that I could do it. (Had) Messaged Sanjay Leela Bhansali about my willingness to audition for the role.” She was replied back with a smiley from Bhansali while she was out of town at that time. She said, "I was somewhere sure that its a huge project and they would go with a big celebrity.” Shilpa was last seen in B. A. Pass opposite Shadab Kamal, Rajesh Sharma, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in other lead roles.
