Comedy Is Difficult; I Try To Make It As Realistic As Possible: Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari

Director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari is gearing up for her second directorial venture 'Bareilly Ki Barfi'. The film is a romantic comedy and stars Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles. It will hit the theatres on August 18, 2017.

Ashwiny, who made her directorial debut with the critically appreciated movie ‘Nil Battey Sannata' which starred actress Swara Bhaskar, has always believed adding a realistic humour to her films rather than making it entirely comedy. "Comedy as a genre is difficult. I don't make slapstick comedy or over the top films. But in films like 'Nil Battey Sannata' or 'Bareilly Ki Barfi' comedy is realistic," said Ashwiny.

She added, "In real life also we do a lot of things that are funny but to get that out and not make it slapstick is challenging. I study a lot of people who have their own quirks and then I make it all part of the film." 'Bareilly Ki Barfi' is co-written by her husband ‘Dangal’ director Nitesh Tiwari and Shreyas Jain. She further stated that both she and her husband are the strongest critics of each other.
