Court stays Subhas Ghais land deal in Haryana

Chandigarh -- It seems that Bollywoods showman Subhas Ghais stars are not shining bright these days as the filmmaker has been forced to deal with one after the other land woes in the last few months. First Bombay High Court had cancelled the Maharastra governments allotment of 20 acres of Goregaon land to Ghai in February and now the Punjab and Haryana High Court has thwarted his attempt to buy another same size plot in Haryana. A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice M M Kumar and Justice Alok Singh has yesterday stayed the sale of the land to Ghai's Mukta Arts from the Gram Panchayat of a village in Jhajjar district and issued notices to the director, the state government and the Jhajjar DC. The notice was issued following a petition that alleged Haryana government resorted to favoritism in granting permission to sell the village common land to Ghai. The Badhsa Panchayat had received state governments approval to sell the land to Ghai in September, 2010, and the deal was finalized in October 2010.
