Daawat-E-Ishq - To Eat or Not to Eat

Daawat-E-Ishq - To Eat or Not to Eat

Dawaat-E-Ishq is a movie that makes its way in to your heart while tempting the foodie in you. Gulrez (Parineeti Chopra) is an educated middle class girl who is brought up by her Dad/Booji (Anupam Kher). While on a quest of getting his only daughter married, the father and daughter are confronted by one greedy family after another who demand atrocious amounts of dowry.

Fed up, finally Gulrez decides to not get married and go to America with her dad to live her dreams. For this she needs money and decides to con Tariq (Aditya Roy Kapoor) who has a big family business and is looking to get married. What follows forms the plot of the story.

    Daawat-E-Parineeti

Parineeti was a treat so delectable that she over powered even the hero of the movie! She looked gorgeous and fit in the role completely. Savouring kebabs in glossy lips and still looking like a foodie is a tough look to pull but Parineeti championed that. I couldn’t think of a better fit for the role of Gulrez than Parineeti!

    Lazeezdar Khaana

The only movie that could make me this hungry other than Daawat-E-Ishq was Eat Pray Love! Remember the scene when Julia Roberts was in Napoli loving every bite of the pizza she ate? That is how I felt when I saw the Kebabs and Biryani. The first place you would want to visit after watching the movie is probably a restaurant!

    Biryani Khaao, Dowry Ko Bhulao!

The movie touched upon a very important topic, in a way that it didn’t lose its entertaining charm! After suffering rejection for not giving enough dowry, Gulrez determines to become a con artist and teach all the greedy guys and their families out there a lesson! There are a lot of subtle woman empowerment issues that this movie touches on too. Right from questioning why a woman can’t keep her last name after marriage to why does a girl need to marry when instead she can follow her dreams, this movie struck the right chord!

    Masaledaar Story!

What I absolutely loved about Daawat-E-Ishq was the story! The story has the right mix of everything that is important in life – food, more food, unconditional love, raising your voice against injustice, some more food and a lot of entertainment. This movie is definitely not going to be the movie of the year but, as you embark upon this little food trip through the Char Minar of Hyderabad and Hazratganj of Lucknow, you’ll revisit what it felt like to be a part of the small town again!

    Shahi Karan Wahi!

Karan Wahi’s debut performance in Daawat-E-Ishq has proved that Bollywood is becoming a welcoming home to the town’s new hotties! Even though Karan Wahi has a small role in the movie, he definitely does not go unnoticed! With those good looks I’m sure he is going to soon become one of Bollywood’s promising eye candies!

    Order Taiyyar!

This movie is good to go and be served to all those who are able to open themselves up to a little fun, a lot of good food and a  lesson on what unconditional love is all about. Daawat-E-Ishq deserves 3 stars out of 5. If you like pretentious stuff, skip this one on the menu now! But for those who live to eat, Daawat-E-Ishq is a treat you’ll surely savour!
