    Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor has finally been bestowed with the prestigious Dada Sahab Phalke award, the highest honour in the country in the field of cinema. The 77 year old veteran Shashi Kapoor ji has immensely contributed to the film industry with some supremely loved films including Deewar, Trishul etc.

    Having been conferred the Padma Bhushan in 2011, Shashi Kapoor ji is also a recipient of the National awards thrice. Some of his most popular and loved cinematic works include Waqt, Jab Jab Phool Khile, Deewar, Kabhie Kabhie, Trishul, Junoon and many more. He has even worked in some of the British English films and was the earliest to have crossed borders in terms of art and cinema.

    Shashi Kapoor ji is now the third member of the Kapoor family to have been honoured with the Dada Sahab Phalke award after father Prithviraj Kapoor and brother Raj Kapoor. Commenting on the recognition bestowed by the fraternity, his son Kunal stated "There was a rumour that he might be receiving it (the award) and now it just feels great to be honour. I am grateful and thankful to the government for recognising his contribution."

    Nephew Rishi Kapoor also expressed his gladness on the gesture and tweeted about it. "Yessssssss! Shashi Kapoor to get the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award for contribution to Indian Cinema. Well deserved uncle. God Bless," he wrote. While we acknowledge Shashi ji’s colossal contribution to the cinematic arena, we also wish many congratulations on this achievement.
