5 December Releases And How Much They Will Benefit From The Padmavati Delay!

5 December Releases And How Much They Will Benefit From The Padmavati Delay!

December had the potential to turn the box office fortune of Bollywood in 2017. It had two of the biggest releases of the year lined up- Sanjay Leela Bhansali ’s historic drama Padmavati, starring Deepika Padukone , Ranvir Singh and Shahid Kapoor and the sequel to the blockbuster Ek Tha Tiger! But not anymore. Padmavati has been delayed and apparently would not be releasing any time before February next year, and it looks like individual production houses are trying to milk in the situation for their own benefit.

The release dates of almost all the December releases have reshuffled now since one of the most anticipated films would not be releasing. But would the Padmavati delay prove beneficial for all of them? If yes, then how much will their fates be affected? Well, here’s what we think:

    1. Tera Intezaar

The Sunny Leone and Arbaaz Khan starrer film has been rescheduled and will release now on 1st December instead of 24th November. The film will benefit in the semi-urban or rural areas maybe, but it wouldn’t have any significant change in the urban collections. This would probably show the least changes in the collection, despite Padmavati delay.

    2. Monsoon Shootout

The film was scheduled for a 15th December release but has now been preponed to 8th December so that it can have a longer run at the box-office. The collections will definitely be better now, given it will have two weeks before the release of Tiger Zinda Hai. But then again it will clash with Fukrey Returns, once again.

Given the success of Nawazuddin’s previous solo film, Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, and his performance as an actor in all the films, Monsoon Shootout has the potential to attract both single screen and multiplex audience. It will definitely have a significant impact on the collection despite the clash with Fukrey Returns.

    3. Fukrey Returns

Fukrey Returns was scheduled for 8th December release, was shifted to 15th December after Padmavati’s initial release date was revealed and now that it has been delayed, the makers have preponed the film to the initial date. The film will impact hugely from the delay now, given it is the first somewhat big release of the month. The first part of the film had already won hearts and there are so many cine-goers who cannot wait to see what will happen after Bholi Punjaban is out of jail. It will have two weeks before the release of Tiger Zinda Hai, and therefore will mint a lot more money! This will probably benefit the most (apart from Tiger Zinda Hai) from the Padmavati delay.

    4. Sallu Ki Shaadi

The movie will be releasing on 8th December and will be dedicated to the question that has confused most Salman fans- “Bhai Ki Shaadi kab hogi”? The film hasn’t created any buzz as of yet and will have a limited audience. Therefore chances are that the film's collections won’t be affected by the delay in Padmavati.

    5. Tiger Zinda Hai

The movie can be pronounced a hit even by the look that it carries. The film is one of the biggest releases. It had a gap from Padmavati anyway, but now that Padmavati isn’t releasing it will get humungous screen counts. The overseas collections too would be affected the film will have more screens even outside the country.  Tiger Zinda Hai will now rule December, thanks to Padmavati delay. With the long weekend following the film’s release, the collections would be hugely affected. Earlier the families, which reunite over winter vacations, had the option to choose between Padmavati and TZH. Now TZH will be the only film and this is a great sign for the film to become the biggest blockbuster of the year!

P.S- Firangi, which has been pushed for a 1st December, will also have a better collection too. It would probably have made more had it released on 24th November, but it could not manage to get the certificate from censor board on time.Tera Intezaar won’t impact the collection of the film much anyway.
