Devgn smashes records, but still remains an ‘unsung Superstar’

Devgn smashes records, but still remains an ‘unsung Superstar’

We may agree or disagree to vindicate the magnanimity of this star but the box office output is reflecting a story less expected. Singham Returns marched into the 100 crore club yesterday and briskly went past the lifetime collections of Singham in just 5 days. The recent performance of the movie speaks volume about the calibre of the actor and his star power. Of course, much credit has to be given to the film’s director Rohit Shetty who in himself holds a credible brand to attract audiences.

Devgn smashes records, but still remains an ‘unsung Superstar’

With this, Ajay Devgn now has five films in the 100 crore club, yes you read that right. Only Salman Khan (seven) has more films than him to have entered the coveted club. Not even the likes of Shahrukh, Aamir, Akshay or Hrithik have been able to register as many films as Ajay in the 100 crore threshold. With Golmaal 3, Singham, Son of Sardaar, Bol Bachchan and now Singham Returns, Ajay has 5 while Shahrukh (four) has Ra.One, Don 2, Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Chennai Express. Following them are superstars Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar with three each while Hrithik Roshan with just two. The stats only go on to show that Ajay is a much bigger star than what he always has been project as. He’s got almost three solo films earning huge numbers. When it comes to glamour and stardom, SRK, Salman or Akshay walk away stealing the show completely but the figures would now reflect a different story. Well let’s see how these actors are able to catch up with our Bajirao Singham this year. There’s plenty more to come, plenty more to be watched.
