    It’s a big day for cine-lovers and a big day for Indian cinema too.U.K.'s largest online Pay Per View (PPV) Indian movie streaming service Sanona conducted a survey and as a result Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) has emerged as the most favourite feature film over 100 years of Indian cinema. 47 percent of votes through social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, email and also by the movie portal itself, went to DDLJ, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the lead roles.

    According to Sanona's CMO, Shazia Nizam, "With Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol's continuing popularity and Bollywood's expanding fan base in the UK, Europe and further afield, it comes as no surprise that Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge would be voted the public's most favourite film.” Aditya Chopra’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge managed to defeat classics like Raj Kapoor's Awaara (1951), Mehboob Khan's Mother India (1957) and Ramesh Sippy's Sholay (1975). It was the first Indian movie to target the large and rich South Asian diaspora in the West, as its audience in majority. The Non-Resident Indian was introduced to modern Hindi cinema with the help of this film and superb storytelling, mind-blowing performances and soulful music did the trick, throughout.

Originally released on July 25, 1995, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge emerged as the second highest grossing Hindi film in the 90s after Salman Khan's Hum Aapke Hai Kaun. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge also bagged 10 Filmfare Awards including the Best Movie, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress awards. It was also honoured with National Film Awards for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
