Amitabh Bhachchan, celebrating 31 years of Sharaabi, shared some of the anecdotes from the movie on his blog. Out of nostalgia, Big B shared everything from conceptualization of his character to several interesting incidents with his fans. He revealed that it was during the shoot of Sharaabi, a Diwali bomb blew his hand.

“It was also during the making of Sharaabi that a Diwali bomb blew up my left hand. The dates had been allocated and the shoot could not be cancelled, so I went ahead in order not to disturb or cause delay. The hand had been reduced to pulp”, wrote the Piku star.

Amitabh’s character in Sharaabi, who would always have his left hand in the pocket, became a style statement and is still followed by his fans. His Sharaabi character is considered as a benchmark for the drunkard’s role in Bollywood. Bachchan wanted to perfect his role and hence asked the director to shorten his dialogues. As per him, an alcoholic would take time to speak in the drunken state.
