Do You Know Why Akshaye Khanna Turned Down Sanjay Dutt Biopic?

Akshaye Khanna fans were all rejoicing when they learned about his association with the Sanjay Dutt biopic. But, it seems like that the happy news is short lived. The latest we hear about the project is the departure of the Dishoom villain.

Earlier, a report by SpotBoye stated that Khanna was roped in to play Sunil Dutt, Sanjay’s father, in the Rajkumar Hirani directorial. And latest reports suggest that Akshaye and Hirani have decided to end their association for the project. A source divulged, “Even after trying prosthetic make-up, Akshaye and Hirani were not convinced and felt that Akshaye did not look like Sunil Dutt at all. Therefore, Akshaye who is very particular about the characters he plays and also about their sketch felt that it will be an injustice to the role if he plays it. Even Hirani was not convinced fully. That’s the reason Hirani and Akshaye mutually decided to not go ahead with their alliance.”

The yet-to-be-titled biopic features Ranbir Kapoor (as Sanjay Dutt), Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza and Vicky Kaushal in pivotal roles. The filming of the Dutt biopic started last weekend and Dia also shared pictures from the sets. The filmmakers are aiming to wrap up the biopic by June so that it can be released around Christmas this year.
