Ek Thi Daayan certified with U/A rating by Censor Board

An exception has been recorded in the history of horror movies as Ekta Kapoor’s upcoming supernatural thrillerEk Thi Daayanis the first one in its category to pass with an U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification. While it stormed the National Commission for Women and was said to be a watch for a limited adult audience only, the Censor Board has ruled against all the speculations and the youngsters are going to enjoy the movie at the same time.

The movie, being directed by Kannan Iyer and starring Emraan Hashmi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Kalki Koechlin and Huma Qureshi, revolves around a magician whose life gets disorderly because of his out of the world hallucinations. Though a process of hypnosis leads to the end of his troubles, a scary story of a witch, who destroyed his family, returns to haunt him again.

Ekta talked to a leading daily, “While we have the advantage of the film being children-friendly, it also has all the commercial masala that the audience expects from an Emraan Hashmi film. Young couples, who want to cuddle up during the spooks and scares, have found their film to do so.”Ek Thi Daayan, produced by Alt Entertainment and Vishal Bhardwaj Pictures, is slated to release on April 19.
