Ekta Kapoor who is busy with her latest project, which is a biopic about former Indian cricket team captain Mohammed Azharuddin, has hit a roadblock. Initially, Kareena Kapoor was being roped in to play the role of Azharuddin’s second wife Sangeeta Bijlani. But after the actress declined the role, the filmmaker is having trouble to find someone who suits the role opposite Emraan Hashmi.

After holding talks with several actresses, Balaji Telefilms is now looking for a fresh face."After conversations with several leading ladies led to no confirmation, the studio decided against casting an established name. They even looked at some Southern actresses, but none fitted the bill", a source revealed to Mumbai Mirror.

Confirming the news, Tanveer Bookwala (Balaji's Chief Creative Officer) told Mumbai Mirror, "We are gearing up for the biggest nationwide hunt to find Bijlani. A new girl will debut with the Azhar biopic”. When quizzed about why no leading actress of B-Town decided to take up the role, Tanveer said, "It's a controversial role which requires a lot of gumption to carry off. We're sure to find one in the coming month as the film goes on floors in May".
