Farah was initially shocked by Bhansalis acting offer in Shirin Farhad

Choreographer-director Farah Khan, who is debuting as an actress in Sanjay Leela Bhansalis co-production Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, first thought that the filmmaker is joking when she was offered the lead role. At the unveiling of the first look of the film on Wednesday, Farah said, when director Bela Bhansali Sehgal, Sanjays sister, approached her she thought she wants her to choreograph songs in her film and only when she was given the script, she realized the Bhansali siblings real motive. "It was not a conscious decision. I thought Bela and Sanjay (Bhansali) wanted me to choreograph a song. But when they gave me the script, I almost fainted," the choreographer-turned-director-turned-actor said. "For almost a week I thought they were joking. When they told me it had Boman Irani, half the job was done," she added.Talking about the selection of the lead pair, Boman Irani-Farah, for the film that is being co-produced by Eros International and Bhansali Productions, debutant director Bela said, "I had thought of the movie eight years ago and I wanted Boman and Farah only. And after eight years we made this film". About the genre of the film, the actress said it is a comedy with a mixture of all emotions. "...At the end of the climax, you will be crying. There is a lot of emotion. Every time Boman makes that last speech to me, I cry...It has everything in it," she said. Farah Khan is happy that she got a chance to debut as an actress with a female director, "I am so happy that I have made my (acting) debut with a woman director. This makes it so much easier. As much as I am a control freak, I gave complete control to Bela...We would improvise and ask Bela if I could do something or wear something, but other than that, I was an actress," said Farah.
