    Filmmaker Onir Talks About Changing Bollywood

    Indian film and TV director Onir is known to have helmed movies such as Bas Ek Pal, My Brother…Nikhil and I Am. The director is known for offbeat movies which emphasise on social issues. The filmmaker recently said that the top tier actors of Bollywood are now completely aware of the fact that nowadays an actor needs to widen his/her horizons and indulge in starring in movies of varied genres.

    The 48-year-old director said that formulae movies are not enough in order to survive in Bollywood. The director was quoted as saying, “I think stars have felt they can’t be doing formula films all the time. The moment a big star starts doing an independent film, more and more audience starts watching it and it is good for the industry”.

    Onir also added that the Indian audience is also watching more amount of independent cinema. Regarding Onir’s future plans, the director is revving up for his upcoming flick 'Shab' which is slated to release on June 30. The movie is about intense human relationships and stars Raveena Tandon, Simon Fenay, Ashish Bisht and Arpita Chatterjee.
