Filmy Friday: Mr X starts slow, Margarita With a Straw needs encouragement

Emraan Hashmi’s invisible outing at the ticket counters hasn’t really been able to create magic. The opening reports of the film have placed it at a low occupancy, again making it a word of mouth dependant. The film opened in the range 20-30 %.

Being a major release out of all, while the film was expected to open better, Emraan Hashmi’s popularity seems to have suffered a dent here. The actor, who at one point was being considered as one of the most appealing star to masses, has been fairing quite poorly lately. However, Mr X could break that curse and turn out to be a success. The film unfortunately hasn’t received the best of reviews from all over and will only depend on the word of mouth. With an intriguing theme as its subject, the word on the ground could work as a push.

On the other hand, the flowing in news movie these days, Kalki Koechlin starrer Margarita With A Straw looks to be a strictly urban based film. Based on a girl suffering from cerebral palsy and discovering bisexuality, Margarita With A Straw is a brave move presented by Shonali Bose. The reports have been extremely positive for the which might work as a boost in collections. At the moment, Mr X is looking at an opening day in the range of 4-5 crore, let’s hope the counters rake in much more moolah this weekend.
