Though the latest Bollywood releases, Saif Ali Khan-starrer Go Goa Gone and teenage drama Gippi with Riya Vij in the lead role, won positive as well as mixed reviews from movie critics, both of the flicks could not make it big in the box-office number game. It was merely Rs. 75 lakh for the family entertainer Gippi and Rs. 3.75 crore for the zombie flick on their opening day.

Revealing the poor box-office collection by the two movies, trade analyst Taran Adarsh also added with some hope, "Go Goa Gone, Gippidependent on evening/night shows." Furthermore, Go Goa Gone earned Rs. 4.30 crore on the second day at the theatres. While Gippi attracted teenagers with their families the most, the Saif Ali Khan-Puja Gupta-Vir Das-Kunal Khemu-Anand Tiwari starrer Go Goa Gone was a hit among Delhi and Mumbai audiences the most.

Gautam Dutta, chief operating officer of PVR, told about Gippi, "Since the movie is a lot about school children, the sales are not expected to pick up in the weekdays because the schoolgoing crowd doesn't come for movies when schools are open. It can be a little static.” But he was little bothered about Go Goa Gone’s slow opening as he said, "The movie had a slow start, which was unexpected.” As told to IANS Gautam stated more, "It's been a step lower than what we thought. The movie opened slow but has picked up because of word of mouth.” He further added, "The movie's occupancy has only been 65-70 percent in the first three days. We believe a lot of youth will come from Monday."
