Director Gyan Correa is extremely happy after getting an unexpected international recognition through Academy awards entry of his debut Gujarati film The Good Road. The film remained the top choice of the federation over 22 Bollywood hits including The Lunchbox, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and English Vinglish. The director commented, "I never expected such a big recognition for my dream film. I was completely left numb when I heard the news. I got to know about it from a journalist, who congratulated me for the recognition. I had no clue about it at all."

Along with that, Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap are very disappointed as well as angry as the much-anticipated flick has lost this time. Anurag twitted, "First time and I really mean it, first time I really was excited because first time we knew we had a chance, first time I was waiting for it. I don't know who the federation is but it goes to show, why we completely lack the understanding to make films that can travel across borders." The filmmaker Karan also stated that it’s sad and disappointing to know that The Lunchbox, instead of having every factor did not make it to reach the Oscars.
