    The evergreen diva of Indian cinema, Sridevi Kapoor, celebrates her 50thbirthday today. Recently, after settling down with her domestic life peacefully with husband Boney Kapoor and her two daughters, she made a stunning comeback with English Vinglish which has also been one of the most loved films of last year.

    At 50, Sridevi is a complete person as a devoted wife, a caring mother, an artistic actress, a dancing diva and also a booming businesswoman. The whole world keeps illuminating with her glittering eyes and precious smile. Born on August 13, 1963 in Tamil Nadu, Sridevi started facing the camera at the age of 4. She acted in several Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films and won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Artist for her performance in Poombatta (1971). Sridevi shot to stardom with the 1976 Tamil movie Moondru Mudichu opposite Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. In the Hindi film industry she made her debut in 1975 with the blockbuster romance Julie.

    Her maiden Hindi blockbuster came up with the 1983 film Himmatwala opposite Jeetendra. After the jodi became a superhit with the movie, Sridevi and Jeetendra together carried on with delivering superhits like Mawaali (1983), Tohfa (1984) and Aulaad (1987) to mention a few. Then Sridevi became a critically acclaimed actress with Sadma opposite Kamal Haasan and the film helped her win a nomination in the Best Actress category of Filmfare Awards. Her filmography went on with blockbusters like Nagina in 1986, Mr. India in 1987, Chaalbaaz and Chandni in 1989 and Lamhe in 1991. After appearing in Judaai in 1997 along with Anil Kapoor and Urmila Matondkar, she didn’t return to the silver screen for the next 15 years. In 2004 Sridevi debuted on the small screen with Malini Iyer. Besides five Filmfare Awards and other prestigious trophies, recently Sridevi was also honoured with the Padma Shri which she received from President Pranab Mukherjee. Apart from covers of the magazines like Filmfare and Stardust, Sridevi also made it to the cover of Vogue recently. Here we wish Sridevi a very Happy Birthday and a prosperous year ahead.
