‘Hume Aitraaz Hai’: Abhishek Sharma’s Upcoming On Freedom Of Expression

Inspired by the ongoing dispute over freedom of expression, Tere Bin Laden fame director Abhishek Sharma has decided to make his next film on the subject. The director says that he is aware of the fact that the film “might not get accepted by the audience”. The movie will be titled ‘Hume Aitraaz Hai’.

Sharma revealed, “The film is not on intolerance. It's on freedom of expression. People are taking about it and there is so much debate on it. So, it's a commentary on that. It will be funny as hell. We are not taking any sides. The film is not a message. I wrote 'Tere Bin Laden' in anger because I felt the bombings were wrong. From anger comes satire and from satire comes comedy”.

The director thinks that questioning freedom of expression in a country like India is not right. “India is a beautiful country. We have more freedom than any country in the world. There are only two countries, India and US, where there is real sense of freedom of expression”, he said. The shooting for ‘Hume Aitraaz Hai’, which is currently on its casting stage, will supposedly start by the year end.
