I Won’t Go To Them, They Will Come To Me: Nawazuddin Siddiqui On Working In Hollywood

Versatile actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui was recently seen in his first Hollywood flick ‘Lion’ where he had quite a small role. For some reason, the actor chose to not promote his role in the film. In a recent interview with Deccan Chronicle, the actor shared that he will only look towards the West if they have a lead role for him.

With Priyanka Chopra and Irrfan Khan making strides in Hollywood, you would think that everybody who got a chance, any chance, to be part of a Hollywood movie would take it. Well, not Nawazuddin apparently. “I shall never go to the West just to seek work. If at all Hollywood filmmakers feel I am capable enough to perform exuberantly on the Hollywood silver screen, then it’s they who need to approach me for work”, the actor shared.

Drawing a comparison to Dilip Kumar, Nawaz stated that the veteran actor had said no to portraying Omar Sharif in ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ because it wasn’t the lead role. “Do any of us in recent times have the guts to leave Hollywood films stating what Dilip Sahab did then?”, Nawaz questioned.

On the work front, the 43-year-old was last seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Raees’ and will next be seen in ‘Mom’ starring Sridevi. Directed by Ravi Udyawar, the movie will be released on July 7.
