‘Ghani Bawari’ from Tanu Weds Manu Returns is gaining popularity day by day and has maddened the fans of Kangana Ranaut. Shekhar Rai, the lyricist of the song, recently revealed the story behind the Haryanavi song. He said, “I wrote the song in almost one go”.

“Krsna called me up one evening and said he wanted something in Haryanavi quickly. I did not even know the exact situation at that time. But by the end of the night I had sent him the song”, he added. The lyricist revealed that writing in Haryanavi is what took most of the effort. He added, “I was familiar with the language and accent. I called up many friends to help me get the words exactly right. Some friends’ were busy in office or elsewhere, so I asked their wives and they helped me”.

“I usually write the song first, before the composition. The song’s music has a very traditional feel. It is not something you get from the Keyboard or the synthessizer, it uses Indian instruments. Krsna has gone with tumbi, bhapang and dhols. Though the language is Haryanavi but the song also has huge Punjabi feel too. It was basically an infusion of many cultures and styles”, said Shekhar. Tanu Weds Manu Returns, one of the much awaited movies of the year, has released today. The film was declared a blockbuster at the special screening held for the film fraternity.
