Independence Day set for a ‘Bumper’ release

With a long weekend in the offing, the coming Friday may rake up some solid figures with Singham Returns set to storm its way at the box office. The 15^th of August has always been considered a healthy slot for a film’s release since it is a national holiday. With Friday falling on 15^th August this year followed by Janmashtmi on Monday, this is like a dream weekend for a producer.

The advance booking of the film has been very good in key markets including Delhi NCR and Mumbai. The opening day is already a winning prospect while the following days are expected to be fruitful too. The second installment of the 2011 hit Singham repeats the same team with Kareena playing the female lead this time around. The promos too have largely impressed the audience and they are in for a grand welcome. Ajay Devgn starrer Singham Returns depicts the story of a cop and his fight against corruption. Anupam Kher and Amole Gupte play prominent characters in the movie. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the money spinner filmmaker of the country, Singham Returns is expected to repeat his legacy of giving huge blockbusters. All four previous film of the director have grossed over 100 crores with Chennai Express surpassing the 200 crore mark. While the weekend in waiting is a tempting one for the audience, it’s going to be highly speculative if Singham Returns is worth the hype it is attached to. We’ll find out in a few days time.
