The latest on the biopic of Indian farmer, Sarabjit Singh, is that Irrfan Khan has rubbished the rumour of being approached by the makers of the film, for the role of Sarabjit. Earlier, the rumours suggested that Irrfan Khan and Randeep Hooda were considered to play the lead role. The Paan Singh Tomar actor said, “I haven’t been approached to play Sarabjit at all. This news is definitely not true”.

The project has been hitting the headlines since a long time, for some or the other reason. The project has passed through many hands and the process seems to be still going on. Hansal Mehta was in news to direct the project and later got replaced by Mary Kom director, Omung Kumar. The role of Sarabjit’s brave sister, Dalbir Kaur, was earlier supposed to be played by Kangana Ranaut, who later left the project and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was then finalised for the role.

Irrfan is currently shooting for the Hollywood project, Inferno. As, Irrfan has denied the rumours, Randeep Hooda might get the role. The biopic is based on the life of Sarabjit Singh, who went missing in Pakistan and was later accused of being a terrorist by the Pakistan Supreme Court and was sentenced to death. But, eventually he was beaten up by his fellow inmates and lost his life in his cell.
