Irrfan Khan takes Urdu lessons from Karachi for D-Day

The emerging perfectionist of Bollywood Irrfan Khan, always makes it sure that whatever he does, he does it perfectly. And the biggest surprise came from the actor while filming his next flickD-day. He insisted that he wanted his dialect and accents in the film to be perfect, hence he thought of taking tuitions from Karachi-based tutors, before kicking off the film. The actor, who is playing an ISI agent in the film, wanted to perfect his Urdu as he didn’t want his character to be unconvincing in any way.

An insider revealed, “Irrfan’s dialogues from D-Day were sent to a popular radio jockey in Karachi who recorded them in their local accent and sent them back to Irrfan.” But the training didn’t look sufficient for the actor. Thus a week prior to the shoot, two Karachi locals flew down to help Irrfan perfect his accent and diction. The source added, “They trained with him for hours. They also tried to understand the accent and the diction by looking at a couple of other references taken from various sources.”

The director of the film, Nikhil Advani confirmed, “Irrfan’s attempt for perfection is infectious. To try and achieve the local Pakistani accent, our team researched andcontacted a host of Pakistani locals to present a bunch of options to Irrfan. Considering his character has been living for 14 years in Pakistan, he has to sound like a local.” He also added, “It’s such a pleasure to work with an actor who is willing to give his time and effort to bring his character to life.”
