"It will be a precedent which I am not proud of if the film finds it difficult to release": Shahid Kapoor On Padmavati

Lately, there has been a lot of heat around the movie ‘Padmavati’ and the people associated to it. Several groups in the country are opposing the release of the movie. Moreover, many such groups are giving dead threats to the stars and the director of the movie.

Regarding the issue, the chief of Central Board of Film Certification, Prasoon Joshi, was quoted as saying, “We are trying to follow processes. Instead of arguments, attempts are being made to have a dialogue on the issue”. Shahid Kapoor portrays the character of ‘Maharawal Ratan Singh’ in the movie. The actor was upset about the issue and stated that he faced similar issue during the release of Udta Punjab . The actor was quoted as saying, “It will be a precedent which I am not proud of if the film finds it difficult to release. I believe that the film will release. I believe that this process is difficult and like I said, I went through a similar process with Udta Punjab. I eventually saw the film come out and I eventually saw the film loved and celebrated”.

The actor further added, “So till I am disappointed, I will choose to be optimistic because this has happened in the past. And I did see ‘Udta Punjab’ released. It was released all over the country. It released peacefully and it was seen by any and everybody and the people whom the film was about, the state of Punjab, their reaction was so beautiful when they saw the film. And I really think it will be similar for ‘Padmavati’”.
