Item songs should not be termed as item numbers, says Sunidhi

New Delhi - Talented singer Sunidhi Chauhan feels its wrong to call popular songs performed by A-grade heroines item numbers as they are actually special songs used to unveil the first look of a movie. Sunidhi, who has sung many famous songs in the last few years like Sheila Ki Jawani, Beedi, Deedar De, Mehboob Mere and Aisa jadoo dala re, said, People call it an item song but for me they are special songs, which are now termed as first look of films. I don't understand why people call it an item number when big actors are performing on that song. Take for reference Katrina Kaif or Malaika Arora Khan, they are not item girls, but heroines. So, why call the songs an item numbers? The 28-year-old singer added, But I am glad those songs are treated specially and in a different way. Most of the item songs today are shot on a very large scale and they are paid more attention to. I am pretty happy about it and I would love to do many more in future.
