It’s an official ‘Double Ton’ for Happy New Year

After dominating the box office for more than two weeks, SRK’s Happy New Year has now finally hit the 200 crore mark. The film that saw a huge drop in the collections, held itself up at 196.30 by the end of its third Saturday. The film collected a solid figure by the end of Sunday and has hit the double century as we speak.

While the pretty average word of mouth compelled audiences to stay away from the film to a certain extent, the figure indicates that there is something the audiences liked. While Chennai Express last year had already crossed the 200 crore mark comfortably and placed itself at 220, HNY has fallen too short. The film was left far behind in comparison to last year’s blockbuster Dhoom 3 starring Aamir Khan. While Dhoom 3 ended its run at around 280 crores, HNY will die too early, however, the performance is still to be considered a super show. HNY is now officially the sixth film to enter the 200 crore club after 3 Idiots, Chennai Express, Krrish 3, Dhoom 3 and Kick.
