Their real life romance lasted for four years, so did their onscreen saga together. It was an affair that media was more than interested in to write about, and people were as excited to read about. Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor had become ‘the’ couple of the industry just as they took off as flames. Although, was their cinematic collaboration as perfect? Not quite.

Jab We Met enough to label Shahid-Kareena a hit cinematic pair?

Talking to a leading daily, even Shahid believed that he and Kareena didn’t make a very hit box office pair. That’s a point taken especially after working together for five films in four years. The first appearance of the pair was seen in Ken Ghosh’s Fida in 2004 which bombarded like anything. When 36 China Town and Chup Chup Ke tried to put them in a good frame again in 2006, the effort was much of a waste since both movies were flop. It was the October of 2007, when Shahid and Kareena saw their first ever successful outing through Jab We Met that created magic. Even Shahid doesn’t seem to come to terms to the fact that Jab We Met was such a success and acquired a cult status eventually.

However, their long delayed movie ‘Milenge Milenge’ directed by Satish Kaushik released in 2010 and was simply written off thus ending their long held cinematic association on a darker note. By the release of Imtiaz Ali’s Jab We Met, the couple had broken up and Kareena was together with actor Saif Ali Khan. Shahid may be in the opinion of terming his pair with Kareena a flop one but looking at it from a prospect untouched, isn’t Jab We Met enough to label them as a pair that did create magic in the end. The film has given them an asset for a lifetime which undoubtedly should be taken over as a possession to boast about. Let’s leave it to them what they think of the pair themselves!

Both actors have come a long way since their break up in 2007. While Bebo is happily married with Saif, Sahid is finding challenging roles to beat cinematically. Unsure to make an assessment of their box office togetherness, they obviously did a make cute off screen pair though, no?
