Lahore court rejects plea challenging exhibition of Vishal’s Bhardwaj’s Haider

A few days back, Iftikhar Ahmad had filed a petition to stop screening of Indian film Haider as he felt that it was against the principles of Pakistan and the two-nation theory. He also stated that the film offends Pakistani Army. However, Lahore court has rejected the plea challenging the screening of Haider in Pakistani theatres.

In reply to the plea of Iftikhar Ahmad, Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza of the Lahore High Court retorted, "This is not the right forum. The petitioner should better approach the censor board." Hence, the petitioner has been asked to contact the concerned body, before knocking the doors of a court.

Vishal Bhardwaj's Haider claims to be a modern day adaptation of William Shakespeare’s drama Hamlet. Starring Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Kay Kay Menon, Irrfan Khan and Tabu, the film was set amidst Kahmir conflicts of 1995 and hit the screens in India on October 2.
