Leena Maria Paul arrested for cheating investors

Leena Maria Paul and five others have been arrested for cheating almost 1000 investors in Mumbai. A case has been lodged under sections 420, 120 (B) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), as well as sections 3 and 4 of the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Scheme (Banning) Act 1978. All the accused have been sent to police custody till June 4.

Dhananjay Kamlakar - Joint Commissioner of Police - told reporters, "She does not have any known source of income. In the earlier case as well the police had seized expensive watches and luxury cars from her. She has a penchant for these things". The Economics Offences Wing (EOW) recovered nine luxury cars. Over 100 imported watches worth crores and cash were also recovered.

After several complaints being registered by the investors, Mumbai’s Crime Branch took the accused in custody. According to sources, Leena was also arrested for cheating a bank in Chennai in 2013. The actress has acted in National Award winning film ‘Madras Café’
