Legendary actors Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar, Rajinikanth to receive Padma Awards?

This Republic Day, government is planning to give Padma Awards to 148 personalities in the country. However, after intelligence clearance, the final list may have around 136 names, which will reportedly be out on January 25.

Like every year, various names from the film industry have also been included in the list. Amidst awardees from other streams, names of legendary actors Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar, Rajinikanth, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, music composer Prasoon Joshi and filmmaker Salim Khan are mentioned in the country's top honours.

Other eminent personalities from the world of art and culture, include A Kanyakumari (Carnatic violinist), Smriti Biswas (actor), Girija Devi (Hindustani vocalist), L Subramaniam (musician), Malini Awasthi (folk singer), Sudha Raghunathan (Carnatic vocalist), music directors Anu Malik and Ravindra Jain and Assamese film director Jahnu Barua.

Padma awards are given since 1954 on Republic Day in honour of contributions in wide-ranging pursuits.
