    Madhur Bhandarkar laps up Sophia Award

    Award winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, who is often termed asa 'realistic filmmaker' has added one more feather to his hat. The notable director has been honoured with the coveted Sophia Award at the Syracuse International Film Festival in New York. Also, two of his movies- Heroine and Fashion were premiered in the 'Film from India' section at the fest.

    The director took to the micro-blogging site to express his happiness. “Honored to have received the SOPHIA award today (Sunday) from Tom Bower at Syaracuse Film Festival, New York! @SYRFILM (sic),” he posted. Last month he had tweeted, "FASHION & HEROINE will be screened on Oct 11, 12. This will be my first visit to Syracuse. Looking forward! @priyankachopra, @utvmovies."

    With notable flicks likePage 3, Chandni Bar, Traffic Signal and Corporate, Madhur Bhandarkar’s makes an attempt to hold up a mirror to the society. Currently, he is busy with his new project Calendar Girls which features many new faces.
