Marrying Kareena will not debar Saif from becoming custodian of royal waqf properties

Clearing the air over the controversy that marriage with Hindu Kareena Kapoor will debar Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan from becoming the custodian of Pataudis royal waqf properties, chairman of Madhya Pradesh Waqf board said its not the case. Chairman of Waqf board Gufran Azam said, "Assuming that Saba Sultan, the current Mutawalli (custodian) of Auqaf-e-Shahi steps down, Saif can become the Mutawalli as technically religion of Saif's wife would not matter and is a personal choice. He added, "Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan's daughter Saba Sultan is the custodian and would remain so even after her marriage. The wedding of Saif and Kareena does not affect the Saba's role as the head of royal waqf. Despite Saif has been anointed as Nawab of Patuadi after his fathers death, he has maintained silence over the issue of the Auqaf-e-Shahi or royal waqf properties, which are worth Rs 1,000-crore and also have religious and charitable significance.
