Mary Kom ends week 1 at 45 crores, grips well

Priyanka Chopra starrer Mary Kom that embarked on a sparkling weekend minting just under 30 crores has ended its first week run at around 45 crores. The film maintained a steady flow at some places while some centres also saw its figures falling dramatically.

While some trade analysts had predicted a 50 crore week for the biopic, the film has just fallen short of their expectation. With the present shortcomings of the movie, it is pretty certain it will take the producers home without any trouble, however, the mixed reviews did affect its box office performance. With new releases expected to dominate ticket windows this week, looks like Mary Kom will cross the 50 crore mark by Wednesday. After experiencing a huge fall in its collections on Monday, the film continued well, gripping itself well at the box office. While Priyanka Chopra is on cloud 9 with the result, the success of Mary Kom would answer a lot of questions. All this talk of a woman centric film failing to impress the audiences has somewhere been given an answer to. A certain extent of rhetoric would now look at Mary Kom as a solid prospect to earn big.
