In an Indian box office market where Hollywood seems to have emerged a major competitive challenge to Bollywood movies, this particular week has been on the brighter side for Hindi trade biz. While the latest Hollywood release Finding Dory is spilling out an absolute carnage at the international box office, the film India couldn’t match the same extravaganza.

The sequel to the 2003 hit did make its presence felt at the box office despite some stiff competition like Udta Punjab and The Conjuring 2, but couldn’t get going like some of the previous Hollywood earners in the past few weeks. The film opened to more than 1 crore on Friday and multiplied its biz on Saturday and Sunday.  The film took home an opening weekend collection of 5.29 crores and hasn’t dipped too low on the weekdays as well. The film is currently placed with a collection of somewhere around 7 crores and is expected to fetch its lifetime collection to 10 crores approximately.

On the other hand, Udta Punjab after a very impressive opening weekend stayed solid on weekdays as well and added 8.50 crores in its tally. The film’s total net collections currently stand at 42.30 crores and will most likely end its first week close to 50 crores. Going by the current trends and no stiff challenge this week, the film has a chance to further strengthen its box office run.

Housefull 3 after having entered the 100 crore club has added 6 more crores to its total and is ending its total biz in the same range. Meanwhile Conjuring 2 has also fared exceptionally well at the box office and has become yet another Hollywood release year to go past the 50 crore mark. With a lot of biggies lined up for release in the coming weeks, there’s a lot of space to follow.
