Harshvardhan Kapoor may have to depend on his second film if he wishes to taste some success at the box office. Yes, the Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra directorial has got a thumbs down from the audiences and the box office figures are in with some terrible news for the producers.

The period love story also starring Saiyami Kher paralleled with a modern day chapter, Mirzya had a lot going for itself but the buzz only lasted as long as its promotional campaign was on. Made on a handsome budget that’s certain to give its producers a pain, the film could only manage a mere 2.20 crores on its opening day. And if these dismal opening numbers weren’t enough, the film didn’t show any signs of growth and sunk further down on Saturday. It collected a murky 2.10 crores on its second day and brought its tally up at 4.30 crores.

If the film hoped to make a mark at the ticket counters, it needed to be at least in the range of 15 crores in its opening weekend. However, it is not even close to the halfway mark. Interestingly on the other hand, the comedy drama Tutak Tutak Tutiya despite being non-performing has been fairly accepted by the audience. Having been shot in 3 languages, the film may have an edge over Mirzya in the long run.
