Moral Police Protests Against Badrinath Ki Dulhania Makers, Here’s Why

Badrinath Ki Dulhania has managed to make it big at the box-office. The film continues to rock and is being appreciated by the critics as well as the fans. However, there are certain people who are not happy with the flick’s producer Karan Johar and director Shashank Khaitan.

There’s a scene in the flick where the film’s male lead Varun Dhawan is being molested by a group of goons in Singapore. The hero is then rescued by the film’s female lead Alia Bhatt. We can clearly see Varun’s clothes are in tatters and he is covering his modesty with Alia’s dupatta. The scene made many laugh. If reports are anything to go by, Moral police and women’s activists are not happy with way the makers have made male molestation scene into a joke.

In his defense, the BKD director said, “The intent was to show Badri’s character at an all-time low. Emotionally he was down and out. Vaidehi (Bhatt) had stripped him of his ‘mardangi’ when she asked him to call his father and he couldn’t. He was emotionally defenceless and was unable to even protect his physical ‘izzat’. The humour was to comfort and not trivialise the issue”.

Let’s wait to see how the activists react to this.
