You just cannot avoid the anxiety in you when a Govinda release is round the corner. The Bollywood superstar who enthralled audience’s right through the 90’s, and even after that, owing to his superb comic timing and screen magnetism, has long been sitting in limbo with no work. Govinda has only featured in quite a few substantial movies in the last 10 years with Salaam-E-Ishq, Bhagam Bhag, Partner, Do Knot Disturb, Raavan being the top names. Now, that he’s ready with his yet another comeback, the actor talked about why he chose Kill Dil.

“My wife persuaded me to take up Kill Dil”, says Govinda

According to the actor, it was his wife Sunita, who pushed him to take up the project since it would benefit him and his children’s careers. "Initially my mother used to guide me about many things in life. After her, my wife Sunita has been saying a lot of things which I follow. Sunita actually encouraged me to take up Kill Dil as she felt that this movie will be good for our kids' career," the actor said. The actor was also very excited about working with the Yashraj for the first time. In spite of a career stretching over 3 decades, the actor could never really get a chance to work with them. "I had a dream of working with YRF. I used to visit the studio and see pictures of various actors there but mine was missing. Now that I am working with them, it is really an amazing feeling. They are learned and well-behaved. And this wait was worth it," he said.

Govinda plays a negative role in the film that also stars Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra and Ali Zafar in lead roles. The film is directed by Shaad Ali, who last directed the luxuriously disastrous ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’. Govinda is also set to appear in Saif Ali Khan’s Happy Ending in his trademark comic style, which opens on November 21st. "Saif is an amazing person to work with. He has done a great job in Happy Ending. He is a National award winner and I respect him a lot," he said about working with the Chote Nawab. Let’s hope the 50 year old Govinda finds some form back and we get to see him on screen more often.
