4 Reasons Why Naam Shabaana Could Make For A Compelling Watch This Weekend

4 Reasons Why Naam Shabaana Could Make For A Compelling Watch This Weekend

Two years ago when Akshay Kumar’s Baby came out to give us a taut thriller wrapped around nationalism, people did receive it with open arms and it went on to earn close to 100 crores. It’s a rarity in Bollywood when filmmakers choose to go with a spin off rather than a sequel. While Baby had Taapsee Pannu play a secret agent named Shabana, two years later she holds enough merit to come up with her own story.

Naam Shabana entices a large section of audience for it tries to engage with a narrative that holds enough meat. While Baby was Akshay Kumar, Naam Shabana is Taapsee and we have no problems with that. As the film is all set to hit the screens this Friday, we come up with four reasons why Naam Shabana could make for a compelling watch:

4 Reasons Why Naam Shabaana Could Make For A Compelling Watch This Weekend

    Star Cast

With the kind of promise film has made with its trailer, the star cast is the biggest take away. While the film is obviously centered around Taapsee, its rich support star cast is a valued addition. With the likes of Anupam Kher, Manoj  Bajpayi, Danny and Akshay Kumar (in a special appearance), the star cast of Naam Shabana is quite a prospect to bank upon.

    Spin Off, Not A Sequel

We are so used to being treated with sequels that getting a spin-off now is bigtime refreshing. While the film essentially borrows its setting from Baby with same characters, the narration here is dealt keeping Shabana aka Taapsee in view. So anybody who hasn’t even seen Baby can go and watch Naam Shabana without any qualms. Spin off for Bollywood lovers could also be a newer dimension to explore.

    First Female Centric Spy Movie

While Bollywood has fed our minds with the impression of guys being that cool spies overseas, Naam Shabana showcases the side we are not really used to. A female centric spy thriller we haven’t really been treated with and seeing this one could really be a treat.

    An Interesting Treat On Offer

Neeraj Pandey has a knack of creating engaging dramas and even though he doesn’t direct this one, his writing would play a factor. We have admittedly been at the edge of our seats in films like A Wednesday, Special 26 and Baby and Naam Shabana therefore becomes enticing enough to be viewed. While the trailer has promised enough, we’ll find out if the film is worth it also.

Are we ready for this thrilling spin-off?
