Nagaraj Manjule: I don’t Want To Revisit ‘Sairat’ In Any Other Language

We had reported earlier that the National award winner filmmaker Nagraj Manjule is making a Bollywood remake of his critically acclaimed Marathi film ‘Sairat’. The film will mark in debut in Hindi cinema. We had also told you that the director has approached megastar Amitabh Bachchan for the flick.

Though ‘Sairat’ went on to become the highest grossing Marathi film, however, deep down in his heart the director was still in low-spirited as his estranged wife made certain attacks on him. She stated that the director did not treat her well and also claimed a whole lot of monetary compensation. “To be honest, I couldn’t enjoy the success of Sairat, nor understand its impact fully, as I was thrown into the deep end of the ocean, and asked to swim. I couldn’t even understand what was going on. I chose not to speak as I didn’t want to hurt those who were hurting me,” said Nagraj.

The Hindi remake of ‘Sairat’ will be produced by Karan Johar and will feature Shahid Kapoor’s half brother Ishaan Khattar and Sridevi’s elder daughter Jhanvi Kapoor. Nagaraj has no regrets about not doing the Hindi remake of his film. “As far as I am concerned, I am done with Sairat. I’d not want to revisit it any other language,” he said.
