Nikhil Advani spills the beans about his upcoming flick Katti Batti!

Since the day Kangana said yes to Nikhil Advani for his flick Katti Batti, a lot is being talked about its subject. The latest buzz says that the movie is based on a unique love story of an impulsive, volatile girl with a calm and composed boy. The couple enter in a live-in relationship and end up with the girl getting pregnant.

Kangana plays the role of the girl named Payal and Imran Khanplays the role of the boy namedMaddy in the romantic flick. Payal comes from a wealthy family and has completely different ideas about love, marriage and parenthood. But life of Maddy, a middle-class reserved boy from Pune takes a new turn when he falls in love with this unpredictable lass from Delhi. When the news of Payal’s pregnancy breaks, Maddy, reacts with, "Let's get married?" But Payal retorts, "Why? Because I'm pregnant? So what's the big deal!"

It's written by Anshul Singhal, a boy from Saharanpur who went to IIT and fell in love with a girl. "I agreed to do the film just on the basis of the original title, Saali Kutiya: A Love Story. The censors would have never passed it, so we changed it to Katti Batti. But I have retained Anshul's modern take on an age-old institution. It reflects the fact that Indian women today are confident, progressive, empowered and ready to take chances," says Nikhil.

"After the narration, we sat together for three hours discussing details of the character. I could see that Kangana was as excited as I was," he says.

Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta starrer Salaam Namaste was also based on live-in relationship and had a similar storyline. But, Nikhil retorts that the couple was based in Australia in Salaam Namaste. But Maddy and Payal, who meet in art school, stay in Mumbai. "Our story is rooted in and unfolds in urban India and that's the big difference," he states.
