Barely a day after Salman Khan’s driver Ashok Singh took all the responsibility of the mishap on himself, the Mumbai sessions court has decided to not go further with any examination of witnesses. Ashok Singh had testified to the court day before yesterday claiming to have been behind steering when Salman’s car rammed into a bakery shop, killing one while injuring three sleeping outside.

While defence lawyer Shrikant Shivade snubbed examining anymore witnesses, Judge DW Deshpande who asked both the parties to make their final arguments. Prosecution lawyer Pradeep Gharat will make his arguments first, which is expected to stretch at least a week. The case has been under trial since 2002, when ‘drunk’ Salman had allegedly rammed his over speeding Land Cruiser into the bakery.

Ashok Singh’s testimony that came as a rather unexpected development in the case, raised a lot of questions. On being asked by the judge why it took him 12 years to come out and accept, Singh told that it was Salman’s father who persuaded him to go ahead and accept the truth. As hard as it gets to digest the facts, the never ending case seems coming to a landing point.
