Oh poor Akshay! Give him an award guys!

Looks like the award winning deprivation in real life has made superstar Akshay Kumar take his misery to screen. The actor who plays an alcoholic star in his upcoming film ‘The Shaukeens’ is apparently craving for a national award in the film. The character he plays is completely different to what he is in real life but the irony seems to be carrying along.

Talking about it, director Abhishek Sharma said, “It’s actually very funny. Akshay Kumar plays Akshay Kumar. But he desperately wants to win the National Award. There is this huge conflict between him and his business manager, who wants him to break box-office records instead. But Akshay is ready to do anything to bag the most respected award in the country.” Akshay Kumar is one actor who has been extremely critical of award functions in India and finds them unfair, unjust and completely commercial. He hasn’t been too lucky to take away any big award in his career while most of his fellow actors have had their share of recognition. Akshay who plays an alcoholic, offensive actor in The Shaukeens has in some way, a wicked connection with himself even though he is far from that in real life.

Continuing on the subject, Abhishek said, “In the middle of all this mad conflict are a greedy secretary, an eccentric director and a commercial filmmaker – all driving Akshay crazy who’s anyway being wasted in alcohol. It is madness like never seen before.” The Shaukeens is all set to hit the screens on November 7th. Let’s see if this extended special appearance is worthy of winning Khiladi an award.
